Artist Biography:
Mark's love of old objects compels him to create symbolic portraits of historic architecture, scenic landscape paintings, and strikingly realistic still life images of everyday items. Mark explains, “I have a deep appreciation for things that evoke a sense of nostalgia. My mission is to document these relics in detailed oil paintings, bringing a renewed attention to their existence.”
As a contemporary realist painter, Mark’s work balances the line between painting and photograph. The use of dark shadows and sharp angles give depth and movement to his compositions. Mark’s paintings embody a sense of reverence for the subject matter, which is often heightened by the stark solitude of his imagery.
Mark was born and raised in southern N.J. He was formally trained as an illustrator at Philadelphia's University of the Arts where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
